Alan Moore, (born November 18, 1953, Northampton, England), British writer whose works included some of the most influential books in comics history.
Moore entered the publishing industry in the early 1970s, working as a writer and artist for a number of independent magazines. He broke into the mainstream with stories for Doctor Who Weekly and the science-fiction anthology series 2000 AD,
But most people only appreciate his work on Miracleman, Watchmen, Superman whatever happened to the man of Tommorrow, Swamp Thing, or The killing Joke yet he's also written V for Vendetta, From Hell, Promethea, Neonomicon, Jerusalem and many more.

He returned in the 90's after he turned 40 years old he proclaimed himself a magician.
These days as with most he says he's done with superheroes.

I love how absolutely spiteful he is to every adaptation and continuation of his work. He doesn't mind insulting the fan-fic tier follow-ups of Watchmen right to the writer's faces.

Also, check out Promethea it's probably his most underrated work, very beautiful, and explores interesting ideas relating to feminism and mysticism.

Has no one brought up The Lost Girls yet?
It's honestly not that bad or as shocking as people make it out to be. It kinda fails as pornography though cause it isn't particularly erotic despite all the explicit sex. It also doesn't really have as much meat to dig into as the rest of his books since all it boils down to is "Sex shapes peoples lives." But for what it is, it's alright.
